Round 8 of the Dickies British Supersport Championship took place this last weekend at the famous Cadwell Park race circuit. The iconic circuit, famous for its mountain section, twists and turns its way around the Lincolnshire countryside providing a truly unique location for British Superbike racing.

Jack-brad-cadwell

Our team arrived at Cadwell with mixed expectations about the weekend ahead. Jack Kennedy, still injured, faced a big challenge with the tight and twisty track.

Equally Brad Jones, off the back of a difficult Thruxton, needed to hit the ground running in the opening free practice sessions and that is exactly what he did. Brad spent the majority of Friday in 2nd position behind teammate Jack before ending the day in 4th position.

Meanwhile Jack battled through the pain barrier once again, to take the provisional pole position. The timed qualifying practice took place on Saturday morning (18th August). Jack got out of the blocks fast and stuck a blistering time in, putting him on the top spot where he stayed for the remainder of the session.

Brad also got going well early on again, and found himself in second position for most of the session before being edged to 3rd by Josh Owens on the Moto 2 machine.

Saturday evening's sprint race was one to remember for our team. With both riders starting off on the front row, it was Brad Jones who took the whole shot. Leading the pack for the first lap, Jack and Ben Currie soon got to the front. Jack took control of the race and lead from there on in, taking the checkered flag 10 laps later to claim his 10th victory of the season. Brad went on to take his maiden Supersport podium in third place, with almost a 7 second gap back to the next man in 4th.

A fantastic sprint race for our team overall with Jack extending his Championship lead a further 5 points and Brad taking his maiden podium, in his rookie season.

The 2018 season has been blessed with some great weather and that continued on Sunday at Cadwell Park. The strong performance from both our riders on Saturday meant that Jack would line up for a 10th pole position of the season, with Brad heading second row in 4th position.

Again, both riders got strong starts and Brad went on to lead the opening two laps, with a hard overtake on front runner Ben Currie. However, Currie soon took control of the race. Jack slotted in behind him before making an attempt at an overtake on lap 11. The pace of Sunday's feature race was quite a bit slower than that of Saturday's sprint race. Currie rode a defensive race making it very difficult for the injured Jack to make a move and he consequently had to settle for 2nd position.

Brad, having started strong, slipped back a couple of places but still managed to bring his Yamaha R6 home in 4th place making it his second 4th place of the season. Cadwell Park was a major success for the team with Jack maintaining his championship lead and Jones achieving his best weekend of the season so far.

The team are now fully focussed on R9 of the championship, which will be held 7th - 9th September at Silverstone Grand Prix - best of luck boys!

The whole team would like to thank all of our partners for their continued support.
