Normal service was resumed, with Irwin and Farmer knocking chunks out of each other, neither rider prepared to offer any quarter.
A late dive from Keith at the Loop on Irwin forced them both wide, allowing Currie briefly back into the lead.
Going into the final lap, Keith had the advantage over the two Kawasaki’s, but soon Irwin made the pass and led onto Wellington straight for the final time.
Andrew went defensive into Brooklands, leaving Keith to release the brakes and dive around the outside, giving the inside line for Woodcote and a clear run the chequered flag. Keith took the win from Irwin by just 0.045s, with Ben Currie 3rd just a tenth behind.
Unfortunatley, the weather took a turn and it started to drizzle lightly at a few parts of the track. The lap times dropped, but Brad more so than Gilbert and Oliver, allowing them to make a gap and break the tow.
By mid race distance the drizzle had cleared, but Brad was now under threat from Ryan Vickers and Robert Kennedy, who he battled with and swapped places with for the remainder of the race.
Vickers soon secured his bid for 3rd place with the fastest lap of the race. Brad and Kennedy crossed the line just 0.04s apart, with Kennedy4th and Brad 5th.
A solid finish and some good points in the bag was very welcome after a DNF at Cadwell, but Brad was disappointed and admitted he got spooked a little by the drizzle, understandable after coming back from a fast crash last time out.
Although Gilbert continues to close the gap to Dan Stamper, the championship is all but his, with a 29 point lead and just 2 races to go. Brad remains in 5th place in the table, the target still being to finish in the top 3 come Sunday evening at Brands Hatch in October.
Currie, apparently adapting to the conditions quickest, made a break and immediately pulled a gap on Keith, Andrew and Jack, who were locked together, skating around the 3.6 mile GP circuit.
By lap 5, Currie had made an 8 second gap over the chasing pack, seemingly with his maiden victory just a few laps away.
However, by lap 9, the pursuing riders pulled 2 seconds back on Currie and again on lap 10, now just 2 seconds behind him and closing fast.
Seeing his board and no doubt sensing the imminent danger, Currie pushed too hard and went down on lap 11, just over one lap away from the flag and seeing all his hard work cruelly gone in a fraction of a second. Keith now headed Kennedy (back with his no.1 engine) into the final lap, Irwin had given best and was around 12 seconds back in a safe 3rd.
Kennedy made a pass stick to take the lead but then lost the rear coming out of the Loop and went down just in front of Keith, just a few corners from home.
So, at the final flag it was Keith securing a second consecutive double victory, Irwin second and Arthur Sissis a distant third and taking his maiden Supersport podium.
Yet another fantastic weekend for Team Appleyard Macadam Racing after taking another maximum 50 points against Kennedy's 10!
Keith Farmer now leads the Championship by 103 points going into round 10 at Oulton Park. We would like to wish Team Appleyard Macadam Racing the very best of luck this weekend!
